A Seriously Cool Apartment

Check out some cool design ideas from this apartment in Tel Aviv. Original post found here.

Love how the industrial feel of the lamp complements the raw brick finish of the feature wall. The clock doubles up as wall decor and is completely functional.

Wide angle shot of the Living and Kitchen areas. Loving the simple colors and predominant use of white to make the rooms appear light and airy.

Last but not least, my favorite design element has to be this cool tap cum towel rack.

The People at Qeeple

We are seriously chuffed and admittedly very surprised that we got nominated by Qeeple as one of the Top 5 Local Design Agency's websites.

It's a really cool pat on the back for our little start up and we couldn't be more pleased to be nominated.

You can check out the post on facebook by clicking here.

HDB Renovation Myths #8

Ok, so this isn't really a myth but more of some advice when it comes to buying furniture.

#8: Furniture companies normally take 4-6 weeks to deliver sofas that are customised by model and fabric. You should purchase your sofa once you have confirmed the design and colour of your living room with your interior designer. Else, you might end up sitting on the floor while enjoying your new HD TV mounted on your designer TV feature wall.

Consider yourselves warned.

HDB Renovation Myths #9

NEVER EVER buy your furniture before you start your renovations.

So you've set your eye on that dream dining table, sofa, bed frame, tv console, fridge (fill in appropriate furniture piece here) and the sales assistant is willing to give you an additional 10% off if you commit on the spot PLUS he even offers to store the item for you for FREE! You think to yourself - I can't miss this deal & for a moment you lose your grip on you practical and logical self & purchase the item.

Then you realize it doesn't fit into your overall design theme after all and your kitchen is not designed to accommodate your designer fridge. What are you going to do? Sell your HDB apartment and move? Sorry, now you have to wait 5 years before selling.

Consider yourselves warned.

HDB Renovation Myths #10

I'm going to start a new column titled HDB Renovation Myths & over the next few days (hopefully not weeks) tell all you readers (I know it's just 1) what you need to know when renovating your HDB flat

#10 - If your flat has no lift access hacking, haulage and cleaning will knock a hefty dent (no pun intended) into your renovation budget. This is the truth! So if you're planning on renovating your home into a loft-style apartment - be warned.

Design Inspiration: 5 To-Die-For Feature Walls

I was randomly surfing my library of favorite design blogs and was so inspired by the tons f great design ideas that I've decided to share my 5 favorite feature wall ideas. These ideas are actually easy to achieve and can turn any room from blah to bling.

1) Chevron
Stripes are soooo 90s but with this chic Chevron stripe pattern - it just screams style with fun! Go classic with tone-on-tone or really mix it up with bold, bright colours!

2) Crown Moulding
Doesn't every gal dream of living in Paris? Bring this classic yet updated style into your home by installing crown moulding frames on your walls. After that, just hang up lots of your favorite pictures and art to achieve that lovely Parisian flair. Mix up different sizes of frames but keep them in a similar tone to achieve that classic style or mix it up for an eclectic, layered look.

3) High Gloss Walls
High gloss walls simply ooze masculine sophistication. Great for a bachelor pad or an office lounge!

4) Shelving
Why go for boring shelves on your walls & jazz it up with these display boxes. You can even paint the backs of each box for extra oomph!

5) Twinkle
Doesn't this just give off such a cozy, personal vibe? Such a simple idea but what a great effect! Love it!

Small Space Solutions

We get quite alot of requests to revamp HDB 3 room flats and it's always a challenge to create a breezy, airy feel with such a small space.

Tip: Keep the walls light and ensure living spaces are well demarcated while consider built-in storage to maximize the use of space.
